The bench was dealing with a House motion moved by ABVP activists challenging the order of a single judge granting conditional permission to Vidyarthi Ranabheri. While dismissing the appeal, the bench observed that Maha Garjana showed an example of how the conditions imposed can be violated and trampled upon during such meetings, which poses a danger to society, thus, creating a volatile situation leading to law and order problems in the state.
PIL filed against protests in varsities
A public interest litigation was filed in the High Court seeking a direction not to allow any meetings, processions and other agitations by students on the campuses of universities in the state and on the grounds of affiliated and constituent colleges. Mr Sridhar Reddy, executive director of SV Organic Pvt Ltd, filed the petition stating that university students organising and participating in political agitations in university campuses was illegal and unconstitutional.
The petitioner complained to the court that the student leaders of political agitations, be it for separate Telangana or united Andhra, are extolling fellow students not to attend classes and boycott examinations.
The petitioner prayed the court to direct the universities not to cancel any examinations which are already declared and also to announce the dates of the examinations which are cancelled.
