The call by Ms Kavita, daughter of the TRS president, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, to stall the release of Jr NTR-starrer Adhurs has again raised serious concerns about the impunity with which the family orchestrates violence in the region.
The “Bal Thackeray of Hyderabad” — a memorable coinage by the minister, Mr Mukesh Goud —put the Telangana storm troopers into action yet again. They prevented the release of the film in about half the region, while some theatre owners put off screening of the film to avoid trouble.
The Telugu Desam leader, Mr Talasani Srinivas Yadav, said on Wednesday that the family should not treat Telangana as “KCR Private Limited Company.”
If KCR’s “Andhrawale bhago” statement and dubbing people from other regions as “settlers” started attacks on properties belonging to people from Andhra, there are now threats of “civil war” — no less — from nephew Mr Harish Rao, and the raj guru, Prof. A Jayashanker.
Time and again during the six-week agitation, and even previously, the family’s hints have been enough to its strike force to go on the attack. All talk of the joint action committee or of a united movement for Telangana is muted when the family gets going. “KCR’s family should not think that Telangana is their property. This is not the way to lead the movement,” said Mr Danam Nagender, minister.
