Unexpected rain on Wednesday dampened the festive mood, as people could not participate in the traditional Bhogi fire celebrations (usually held outdoors). Participation in the Bhogi Mantalu, which starts the festivities, is considered auspicious.
Hyderabad and other Telangana regions were drenched in rain thanks to a “trough” that formed in the atmosphere of the regions.
The city witnessed 6.3 mm rainfall on Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department (MET) said easterly winds were also causing the rain. Isolated rain or thundershowers may occur in the districts of Nellore and Prakasam on Thursday as well.
