The Telangana Rashtra Samiti, which wants Hyderabad to be part of Telangana after bifurcation, is striving hard to rebuild the party’s base in the twin cities.
The TRS was wiped out in the general elections in Greater Hyderabad and did not contest in the civic elections. The party high command observed that it cannot sustain its demand for Hyderabad unless there is a strong cadre base in the city.
It is now wooing the leaders of other parties to join the TRS. The Praja Rajyam’s Greater Hyderabad convenor, Mr Kattela Srinivas Yadav, and its spokesperson, Mr Sravan Kumar, joined the TRS on Sunday, giving the party a much needed boost in their efforts to regain a foothold in the city. The two defectors joined the TRS in the presence of the party chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and vowed to step up the Telangana movement.
