A court in Kolkata on Friday sentenced Haldiram's owner Prabhu Shankar Agarwal and four others to life imprisonment for attempting to murder a tea vendor in 2005.
The court had on Wednesday held Agarwal and the others guilty of conspiring to murder Pramod Sharma. Sharma ran a tea stall in front of Agarwal's outlet in the city's Burrabazar area. On March 30, 2005, he was shot at from close range. Sharma was hit in the leg and managed to escape.
