The Republic Day celebrations in the capital were fogged out today reducing the visibility to near zero level and depriving spectators of a clear view of the spectacular parade.

Fog hits Delhi flights yet again

There seems to be no respite from fog for travellers in Delhi. Flight operations at the IGI airport remained suspended this morning due to dense fog which disrupted the schedules of over 50 domestic and international flights.

Kotla banned till 2010 end

Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla ground will not host international cricket matches till end of 2010, the ICC said on Thursday.Earlier, the Indian cricket board filed a single reply to the International Cricket Council's (ICC) notice for producing an 'unfit' Ferozeshah Kotla pitch for the India-Sri Lanka One-day International (ODI) last month.

Fog disrupts flight operation again at IGI

Air operations at the IGI airport were disrupted today due to dense fog, affecting the schedules of over 35 domestic and international flights.
“After a clear day yesterday, IGI airport was blanketed with dense fog leading to cancellations of 11 flights. Twenty-four inbound and outbound flights were rescheduled and two were diverted as the runway visibility dropped to 150 metres late last night,” an airport official said.

Tight security in Delhi ahead of Republic Day

Delhi will be under hawk-eye vigil in the run up to the Republic Day celebrations with thousands of policemen fanning out across the city and a massive ground-to-air security apparatus being put in place.Mobile hit teams, anti-aircraft guns and sharpshooters of the National Security Guards will be deployed at various places while paramilitary and Delhi Police commandos will keep a close watch along the route of the Republic Day parade.
