Legendary Marxist leader Jyoti Basu passes away

Legendary Marxist leader and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, died in Kolkata at 11.47 am on Sunday. Basu had been admitted to a private hospital in Salt Lake, Kolkata, on January 1 and had been critically ill.
The 95-year old pillar of Marxism in India was battling for his life for the past fortnight and gradually his vital organs began to fail and today he passed away, leaving a grief stricken political world.

Jyoti Basu BP dropped suddenly

The blood pressure of critically ill CPM patriarch Jyoti Basu dropped suddenly late on Friday night with the hospital authorities summoning the former chief minister's family, an attending doctor said."Basu's family members were called as his blood pressure abruptly dropped. A new medicine was administered and his condition stabilised to a certain extent," Dr Ranjan Sarker, a nephrolgist on the medical board at the AMRI Hospital told reporters.

Basu suffers acute renal failure

Multi-organ failure of CPI-M leader Jyoti Basu has set in after he suffered acute renal failure today, his personal physician Dr A. K. Maity said.“His condition is very critical and unstable,” Maity told reporters.
The 95-year-old CPI-M leader, who underwent a two-hour dialysis last night, was again put through the process for the second time, Maity, who is on the medical board, said.
