K.A. Paul's brother found dead

Feb 1, 2010
Evangelist K.A. Paul’s brother K. David Raju was found dead in his car on NH 7 near Jadcherla on Sunday morning amid suspicions that he could have been murdered. His son, Mr K. Solomon Raju, alleged his father was murdered. A case of death in suspicious circumstances under section 174 of CrPC has been registered. There were no injuries on the body, bar bleeding from the nose. His driver was absconding, police said.
David Raju, a pastor and president of the Gospel for Unreached Millions, had differences with his brother over control of properties of the organisation.
David Raju was last seen at the toll-gate before Jadcherla, which is 70 km from Hyderabad, at 8.30 pm on Saturday.
The body was found by locals on Sunday morning in his Innova (No. AP28AY9899) on the NH7 near Adarsha dhaba in Mahbubnagar district.
“We can’t come to a conclusion (on the cause of this death) at this juncture. But prima facie we can say it is a homicide,” said the Hyderabad inspector-general of police, Mr Vinay Ranjan Ray. Police is awaiting the post-mortem report. Police identified the body after they found the receipt of a city restaurant where David Raju had presumably dined on Saturday evening. A cash withdrawal receipt and income tax documents were also found in the car, but there was no sign of a mobile phone.
Commenting on the bleeding, Osmania General Hospital forensic department head Prof. Narayana said, “If it is only nasal bleeding, it is not significant. Even in natural death blood can ooze from the nose after six hours. However, we have to verify the amount of bleeding. If there is oozing from the ear, there could be a skull injury. In case of poisoning there would be no oozing of blood. In case of smothering (with a pillow) and throttling (with hands) there can be oozing of blood from the mouth, ear and nose.”
Mr Paul had accused David Raju of amassing wealth to the tune of over Rs 20 crore in Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.
On November 8, 2008, the GUM auditorium near Meghalaya Hotel in the city was sealed by the authorities because of the dispute between the brothers.
