Jagan men create trouble

Feb 1, 2010
Supporters of the Kadapa MP, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, disrupted a function in which the statue of his late father, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, was being unveiled at an RDO office here on Sunday.
The Chief Minister, Mr Rosaiah, was about to address activists after unveiling the statue when a group of YSR fanss started shouting “CM down down, DS down down and Venkatramana down down”. The PCC president, Mr D. Srinivas, and the local ex-MLA, Mr M. Venkataramana, were also at the function.
The Congress leaders Mr M. Changa Reddy and Mr Puligoru Murali — widely considered to be behind the efforts to make Mr Jagan the chief minister — were in the forefront of the protest. The former TTD chairman, Mr B. Karunakar Reddy, the Tuda chairman, Mr C. Bhaskar Reddy, and the city Congress president, Mr P. Pratap Reddy, were also present.
The protesters demanded suspension of Mr Venkataramana for supporting the candidature of Mr Chiranjeevi in Tirupati. They also objected to absence of Mr Jagan’s pictures in the flex boards where the function was happening; they alleged it was Mr Venkataramana doing.
Mr D. Srinivas tried to calm them by saying, “If you are really admirers of YSR, you won’t act like this.” Mr Rosaiah and Mr Srinivas left the venue abruptly for the airport.
