OU semester examinations cancelled

Jan 21, 2010
In the wake of violent protest by students in the Osmania University campus on Wednesday, the authorities have decided to cancel all examinations except of the engineering, pharmacy and hotel management courses."In view of the volatile situation, all semester exams except of the engineering, pharmacy and hotel management courses are cancelled," OU Vice-Chancellor T Tirupathi Rao told reporters on Wednesday.

"They would be held later along with the next semester exams or as per the students wish on a day convenient to them," he said.
He said even though exams have been cancelled, classes for the next semester of various courses will commence from January 22.
To a query, the VC said the university will identify all such cases with regard to foreign students studying at OU and if required, would hold special exams for such candidates "this would enable the foreign students who are on VISA to write exams," VC added.
OU semester examinations, which were scheduled to begin from January 19th, were cancelled following the death of K Venugopal Reddy, an MCA student who allegedly committed suicide by setting himself ablaze at OU Campus for the cause of Telangana.
