Jan 22, 2010
Justice Gopalakrishna Tamada of the AP High Court on Thursday gave permission to Telangana Vaidya Garjana to hold a meeting by imposing certain restrictions at the Osmania Medical College in the city on January 22. The judge was dealing with a lunch motion moved by one Mr B. Sreekanth and others challenging the city police commissioner’s order refusing permission for the meeting.  The court said that only medicos and paramedical staff can be permitted to attend the meeting and directed the police to allow the participants through a single entry after verifying their identity. The meeting will start at 2 pm and end at 6 pm, the court ruled.

The court directed that the organisers should not take out rallies or processions before or after the meeting. The speakers have to maintain restraint and were directed not to make any provocative speeches hurting the feelings of people from other regions, the court said. The organisers should give an undertaking to the police commissioner two hours before the commencement of the meeting that they would honour the court orders, it said.

The HC was dealing with a petition filed by the committee challenging the orders of the city police commissioner who denied permission for the fast citing prohibitory orders in and around the High Court building.
HC admits appeal by OMC on mining A division bench comprising Justice V.V.S. Rao and Justice B.N. Rao Nalla of the AP High Court admitted a petition filed by Obulapuram Mining Company and Anantapur Mining Company challenging the orders of the state government in suspending mining operations and transportation of ore.
The bench, while hearing the petitions refused to grant any interim relief as the Supreme Court had suspended such a relief granted by the HC to the petitioners earlier. The government had suspended the operations of these companies which belong to the Karnataka minister, Mr Gali Janardhan Reddy, following alleged irregularities and transgressions regarding boundaries of the mining areas. The court posted the matter to February 9 for final hearing.
