The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) will meet next week to fix the schedule for conducting various common entrance tests (CETs) for admissions into professional courses. It is expected to meet on January 20 and announce the schedule for CETs.
The APSCHE had already identified the universities for conducting the Eamcet, Icet, Ecet, Edcet, Lawcet and PGCET in December 2009. It, however, failed to announce the schedule of these exams due to student agitations in support and against bifurcation of the state. But, with the situation returning to normalcy in all universities after the all-party meet on Telangana in New Delhi early this month, officials of the APSCHE initiated the process of devising the schedule for CETs.
Moreover, the APSCHE was also confused about fixing a date for conducting the Eamcet due to the uncertainty over the schedule of the Intermediate exams with reports of it being postponed by a week.
The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) on January 11, however, announced that the Inter exams will be held as per the original schedule — starting March 3.
With clarity emerging on the Inter exams, officials have decided to constitute the Eamcet committee next week and announce the schedule. The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, has been given the responsibility of conducting the Eamcet.
The JNTU, Hyderabad, has decided to print more than five lakh Eamcet applications for this year.
