Customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGI) here on Thursday reportedly arrested a Nigerian man and a woman from Benin for possessing 14 kgs of heroin.
The duo was about to board a flight to Dubai with the contraband when the officials detained them.According to sources, the offenders have been identified as Sholaja, 39, a native of Nigeria and Cho Boo, 30, a native of the Republic of Benin in Africa.
The value of the narcotic drug is estimated to be Rs 20 crore in the international market. It is not known from where the duo brought the contraband.
The customs officials, who grew suspicious over their movements, checked them and found that they were smuggling heroin concealed in their cabin baggage.
However, when contacted, the customs officials denied having carried out any such arrests.
