The injury woes that plagued the Indian team, worsened as Yuvraj Singh joined the list of the walking-wounded. The southpaw suffered a ligament tear in his left wrist and has been ruled out of the remainder of this match, according to team manager Arshad Ayub
Close on the heels of Rahul Dravid’s facial fracture due to a Shahadat Hossain bouncer, Yuvraj’s injury would mean that M.S. Dhoni’s men are likely to miss two key batsmen, in case the current second Test at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, spills over to the Indian second innings. Incidentally, V.V.S. Laxman with an injured left-hand and S. Sreesanth, nursing a hamstring strain, left for India after the first Test at Chittagong. The injury-spectre will pose tricky questions for the selectors when they meet at Mumbai on Thursday, to pick the Indian team for the two Tests against South Africa at Nagpur (Feb. 6-10) and Kolkata (Feb. 14-18).
Dravid discharged
Rahul Dravid was discharged from the hospital here on Tuesday morning.
Dravid had suffered a fracture in his face after being struck by a Shahadat Hossain bouncer on the second day of the second Test at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.
A doctor, who treated Dravid, said that the ace batsman had suffered a fracture of the `zygomatic arch’ (cheek-bone) and added that the injury could have been much more serious, had the ball struck two inches above. Arrangements are being made to facilitate Dravid's departure to India, later in the day.
