IT major Wipro said that its consolidated net profit for the third quarter increased to Rs1,217 crore, as compared to Rs 1,161.7 in the previous quarter.
On a standalone basis, its net profit for the quarter was Rs 1,230 crore.
On a consolidated basis, its third quarter sales rose to Rs 6,966 crore vs Rs 6,917 crore in the previous quarter.Wipro said that it added 4855 employees in the quarter while its IT services business added 31 clients. In dollar terms, its IT services revenue increased 5.5 per cent from the previous quarter to to $1126.8 million.
“We have seen a positive demand environment which has driven broad based sequential growth across all our verticals, service lines and geographies. In 2010, we expect IT budgets to be flat to marginally positive," said Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro.
Suresh Senapaty, executive director & chief financial officer of Wipro, said, “We reported another strong quarter driven by significant uptick in volumes. We have maintained margins despite a decrease in our rate realization and a strong appreciation of the rupee. Our order booking has been good and BFSI has bounced back strongly.”
Premji added that for the quarter ending March 31, 2010, it expects revenues from its IT services business to be in the range of $1,161 million to $ 1,183 million
