A police operation in the Turkish capital of Ankara resulted in the arrest of 13 suspected al-Qaeda members, the semi-official Anatolia Agency reported on Wednesday.Among those arrested in the Tuesday operation was a man alleged to be the militant Islamic group’s leader in Turkey.

Also found in the raid were weapons, fake identification cards and devices for making explosives, according to reports.
The arrests in Ankara came soon after a police operation on Monday in the city of Adana, which led to the detention of 20 suspected Al Qaeda members.
Turkish security forces have arrested dozens of suspected al- Qaeda members in recent years.
A shootout in early 2008 between the police and militants in the city of Gaziantep, in southeast Turkey, left one policeman and two of the suspected al-Qaeda members dead.
