The Chief Minister will hold a meeting with the JAC on Wednesday in this regard. The decision has come as a relief for JAC leaders who could not even get an appointment with Mr Rosaiah after they walked out of the discussions a few days ago. Sources close to the Chief Minister said he would not agree for more than 38 per cent hike which he had already offered them.
“There may be relaxation to some extent in his earlier stand that the new pay will come into force only from April 2010,” a senior official said. Sources also said that Mr Rosaiah was hurt when the JAC walked out of the discussions twice though he was very liberal and increased the pay hike from 27 per cent as recommended by the Pay Revision Commission to 38 per cent.
He is believed to have been ready to give a 40 per cent hike but for the new demand raised by the JAC that the new pay should be implemented with retrospective effect from October 2008.
“We can still consider one or two per cent more than the 38 per cent but the JAC should not insist on implementation of the new pay with retrospective effect,” the official said adding that the government at best could implement it either from February or March this year.
The JAC leaders on the other hand were also keen on settling the issue before end of January as the political scene is likely to hot up in view of the threat of resignations by pro-Telangana leaders.
The leaders were not only approaching officials to resume dialogue but lobbied with senior Congress leaders for an audience with the Mr Rosaiah.
