A book on Draupadi is raising tempers in Andhra Pradesh. Right wing activists have taken objection to Y. Lakshmi Prasad's book that has been selected for a Central Sahitya Akademi award.
Activists of Pragnya Bharathi, which owes allegiance to the RSS, say the book portrays Draupadi in an erotic manner. One of the main objections is the alleged interpretation of Draupadi as someone who forever craves for carnal pleasures.
Pragnya Bharathi has approached the State Human Rights Commission against the book.
The book depicts the life and times of Draupadi and discusses her amorous liaisons.
