The Telangana Joint Action Committee is under intense pressure due to wranglings among political parties. The Congress, TD, TRS, BJP, CPI, PR (Telangana group), MRPS and others, which came under one umbrella for the Telangana cause, are at loggerheads because of multiple issues.
Attack on Jr. NTR starrer Adurs, protection of non-locals, demand for resignations, particularly after Congress ministers withdrew their resignations, and the delay tactics by the Centre on the T issue have divided the parties. It is just the pressure exerted by students that is keeping them together.
The Telangana TD group led by Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy is now asking the JAC to ensure that all the 119 MLAs, MPs and MLCs from the Telangana region resign from their seats.
“Why did the Congress ministers Mr Sridhar Babu and Mr Komatreddy Venkatreddy withdraw their resignations? The Congress should come clear on this,” Dr Janardhan Reddy said.
He also demanded why only 77 MLAs quit their seats and 42 MLAs haven’t. “We also need to convince MIM MLAs to resign for the sake of Telangana,” he added.
The Telangana Jagruti headed by Kavita, daughter of the TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, hit the JAC unity with a call to boycott Jr NTR’s Adurs since it is produced by
protagonists of Samaikya Andhra. The decision has irked the TD and it is opposed to such a move.
The TRS floor leader in the Assembly, Mr Etala Rajender, said the JAC is intact despite some differences. “We are united on T. The boycott of Adurs is due to provocation by Samaikhya Andhra leaders. JAC and TRS did not give boycott call,” he said.
