Inter exams postponed by a week

Jan 30, 2010
The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday postponed the Intermediate examinations by a week from March 3 to 10 to make up for time lost in Telangana due to agitations. The decision ends the suspense over the exam dates and comes as a relief for students.Secondary Education Minister D. Manikya Varaprasada Rao announced the new schedule after discussions with Chief Minister K. Rosaiah.
The Inter I and II examinations, which were originally scheduled from March 3 to 22, will now begin on March 10 and close on March 30.
The SCC exam, scheduled from March 22, however, has not been changed on the ground that there will be no clash in availability of examination halls.
Similarly, the exam in Environment (Inter I) will be held on January 30 and the practical for II year from February 3, both as originally planned.
The Minister explained that he was personally opposed to the postponement, as the original schedule was prepared to suit several all-India entrance tests.
However, he had opted for a change in dates to provide ample time to students in Telangana, who lost 15 days due to agitations/holidays. He hoped that the revised schedule would do justice to students of all regions.

Rosaiah’s directive

During the discussions, the Chief Minister is stated to have asked the Minister to take the decision himself after considering various factors and do justice to all students.
