Inter Board advises against T, A bias

Jan 28, 2010
The Board of Intermediate Education will be giving instructions to evaluators of answer scripts of Intermediate public exams not to show any regional bias while undertaking their task.

Board officials have learnt that many students influenced by the agitations in the state have penned “Jai Telangana” and “Jai Samaikyandhra” on top of the answer scripts this year.
With lecturers too playing active role in the Telangana and United Andhra agitations, the board is wary that the evaluation process might become biased if care is not taken.
“Treat all students equally,” and “Don’t let emotions damage the future of students” are some of the instructions to be issued to evaluators of answer scripts of this year.
The board feels teachers might be alternately incensed and exhilarated on seeing such slogans and this could trigger regional feelings. To prevent this, the Board has decided to organise workshops for evaluators in February and March to train them on “fair evaluation”.
The Telangana Lecturers’ Forum has demanded that answer scripts of Telangana students be handed over to teachers from the region.
