Chinese hackers targeted PMO

National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan has confirmed that Chinese hackers had targeted computers in the Prime Minister's Office.
In an interview to a UK newspaper, Narayanan said his office and other government departments were hit by the hacking bid on December 15.

Headlines Today was the first to report the story last week. The hackers sent an e-mail with a PDF attachment containing a Trojan virus. The virus, which allows hackers to download or delete files, was detected and officials were told not to log on until it was eliminated.
On December 15, a similar hacking attempt was made on US defence, finance and technology companies.
